Len Hyde elected to State Council

Tony Tinworth, Tuesday, 14 August 2012

Len Hyde (Warrawee) was last night elected as Zone represenrative to State Council, replacing Les McAlpine who has been our Zone Councillor for the past 7 years and who decided to not renominate.

Michael Andersch (North Sydney) was the other nomination and both addressed last nights management meeting on their quailifications for the position and the ballot went in Len's favour.

Len's election is a recognition of the enormous contribution he has made to coaching generally, and to our Zone in particular over many years. He has been chairman of the Zone's Coaching Committee for many years, was formerly a member of the State Coaching Committee - and has bought enthusiasm to that role and in the process published several coaching manuals. Prior to taking up bowls some 16 years ago, he has had a distinguised career in swimming, rugby, cricket, tennis, golf and netball both in Australia and overseas. His business career has been primarily in marketing which equips him to make a contribution to State Council in that important area.

The management meeting was the best attended in years - recognition of the great interest in the election by clubs generally.
