An introduction to Champions League

Viewers with an interest in elite bowls will be interested to learn of a new Sydney competition - Champions League- which has been introduced following the demise of Premier League.

The competition, designed along the lines of Premier League is the initiative of several Sydney bowling clubs. There are 8 clubs in the competition -

Belrose Bull
Merrylands Magic
Mt. Lewis Lions
NSW Institute of Sport All Stars
Roselands Devils
The Hills Hornets
Towradgi Warriors
Warilla Gorillas

The format is 3 rinks of Fours - Male or Female - playing 21 ends in 3 sets of 7 ends. 1 point is awarded per set win and 9 points for the master board - a total of 18 points per game. Each side may have up to 4 marquee players.

The competition commenced last weeken, 24th August and runs through to the finals to be played at Merrylands on 13th & 14th October.Each team plays every other team once.

Games this weekend are: Friday      6pm   Warilla vs NSWIS
                                         Saturday  1pm   Belrose vs NSWIS
                                                          2pm  The Hills vs Towradgi
                                                          6pm   Mt Lewis vs Roselands
                                         Sunday    10am  Roselands vs Belrose

Playing for Belrose on Saturday are Commonwealth Gold medallist Mark Jacobson, Shaun Thompson & Brent Norman. All bowlers are invited to what will be a great game.
