                          LONG  TIME  BETWEEN  DRINKS  FOR

A  NORTH  MANLY  PRESIDENT  PAIR'S  WIN

THE North Manly pairing of Geoff Rogers and Roy Edwards proved to be the right balance of both temperament and bowling ability when they came up against the experienced Tony Chapman and his partner, Simon Creedy, who continue to keep the Lane Cove's flag flying.

It was a matter of both sides settling down and acquiring the feel of the Harbord tiffy which was back to it's usual high standard, having fully recovered from the week or so of persistant rain and overcast conditions.

North Manly led 5-2 early until they dropped a six on the 7th end which put them two behind Lane Cove. However to their credit, they immediately put that right out of their minds and rattled off seven ends straight, including a four to be six in front playing the 15th.

L.C. then managed two consecutive 1's, only to see N.M. countered with a three on the 17th end.

The fact that they were running out of ends didn't deter L.C., in fact they dug deep and scored a 2 and 4 over the closing stages, however N.M. were determined not to relinquish their lead and capped their run off with a 3 and then a 1 on the final end to go out 22-16 winners.

It was great to see the eastern bank of Harbord's showcase green brimming with enthusiastic supporters.
