MONA  VALE'S  TARDY  START

  TURNED  INTO  A  STRONG  FINISH

AND  TAKE  OUT  THE  2's  FLAG

IF the current 2's pennant competition is the zone's de facto 1's grade, then it's been 15 years since Mona Vale won their last flag.

The quality of bowls was an excellent standard and both sides would fit very comfortably in the current 1's competition.

Considering the excellent performance of their old adversary Norths', who elected to play in the 1's competition and had convincing wins yesterday over Mount Lewis (skipped by Kerkow, Glasson and Thorburn) followed by Taren Point to win their way through to the State play offs, Mona Vale would be entitled to give some thought to their future bowl's program.

The Harbord side were quick to settle into their length and weight on their home ground, while Mona Vale were somewhat the opposite. However, by 15th end they only trailed by six shots and looked far more comfortable.

At the halfway mark they had their nose in front and at the 45th end had really consolidated their dominance to lead 54-37.

Harbord found that little extra and slowly reduced that margin over the ensuing ends, however Mona Vale's dominance proved to be to strong and they went out deserved 66-56 winners.

FINAL SCORE: Mona Vale 66 def. Harbord 56 after 62 ends.

MONA VALE are at Wagga Rules for the State rumble and AFL is the only language down there.
