Past presidents Dennis Taylor and Michael Andersch believed that due to his distinguished service and devotion to lawn bowls in general and Zone 9 in particular, that they proposed and nominated Robert (Bob) Moran for Life Membership of Zone 9 which was awarded to him last Monday night, October 8, 2018.

Both Dennis and Michael agree that their brief summary (below) of the various roles that Bob fulfilled may not do him adequate justice, however it may to some degree acknowledge and reveal the many hours he dedicated in the promotion and ultimate success of lawn bowls in Zone 9.

"Our nomination recognises and acknowledges the distinguished service Bob has given Zone 9 in the various roles he performed and moreover also acknowledges his service to the game of bowls via his more recent role as a Director of BNSW and his combined services to the game for more than l5 years.

Bob served as Zone 9 Vice President from 2007-08 and 2008-09 and as President from 2009-I0 to 2011-12.

He took over as Chair of the Zone 9 Match from Wal Hamilton in 2008-09 and fulfïlled that role for 4 years, most of which while also wearing his second hat as President.

Only a man of Bob's capability would dare take on both Chairman of Zone Match and Zone President simultaneously, however Bob performed both admirably.

Bob led the Zone and the Executive including Club Delegates through the minefield of mixed opinions with the new RNSWBA Constitution and the enormous amount of change that occurred.

We well remember Bob chairing a management meeting and judiciously handling the audience’s extensive range of questions thrown at visiting BNSW C.E.O., Greg Helm. That constitution process was taken over by Len Hyde and Dennis Taylor as they entered their respective offices as Councillor and President.

We suspect the challenges of managing us through those Constitutional and Regulation changes opened Bob's eyes to a greater calling and led to Bob's nomination to the role of BNSW Director in the inaugural

year and operating under the new Constitution, a role he continued in until 2016. This culminated in the position of Deputy-President of BNSW in 2015-16.

Bob also served on the State Match Committee for 2011-2012 and brought considerable expertise and efficiency, which he and Wal Hamilton had established on the Zone 9 Match committee since 2006.

Bob's nomination as a Life Member was passed by a resolution of the Zone Executive at its meeting on Tuesday, 29th May held at Belrose B.C. in accordance with clause 5.3(a) of the Zone 9 Constitution and Bob has acknowledged and accepted the nomination in writing in accordance with clause 5.3(b).

Bob has given much in time and expertise to the game of bowls and is a worthy nominee for Life Membership".
