METRO GRADE 1 - Round 2

Mark Alexander, Sunday, 17 March 2019

The Belrose Bulls continued their outstanding start to the Metropolitan Grade 1 competition with a solid 68-46 (9.5-0.5) victory over Penrith.  The rinks of Tony Taylor (24-11) and Crawford Linton (25-16) enjoyed convincing wins while Matt Blackburn's team (19-19) dropped a two on the last end to complete a hard-fought draw.

The Harbord Hawks enjoyed a flying start in their match against Northmead and burst out to a good early lead before the proven class of many of the back-end players for Northmead prevailed and the Hawks were out-gunned again in going down 49-79 (1-9).  The rinks of Paul Leckey (19-35) and Terry Warder (10-29) had particularly tough afternoons while Mark Alexander (20-15) and his team salvaged a point for Harbord with a hard-earned win.

Both Belrose and Harbord are away in Round 3 with the Bulls taking on St Johns Park and the Hawks making the long trek south to Engadine.
