There were some surprise upsets in today's play in the Zone Triples Championships played at Asquith and Mona Vale Bowling Clubs.

In Section 1, the Mosman combination of Leo Vesey, Peter Attrill and Mick Cleaver (Skip) scored an upset win over the fancied John Campton, Scott Sheppard and Jonathon Pollard (Harbord) 30 shots to 19. They went on to win the Section by defeating the St Ives team of Chris Carey, John Donnelly and Tom McKelvey 29-17.

Section 2 was won by Harbord's Peter Crossingham, Phil Enever and Ray Robinson who, in the semi-final,  defeated their clubmates David Shearer, Steve Ashdown and Steve Rawlings who might have been expected to win the Championship having recently won the Fours Championship. Ray's team  defeated Turramurra's Rob Hawtree, G Bruce and George Appleby 34-12 in the Section final.

There was another win to a Harbord team in Section 3 where Andy Dessaix, Richie Monin and Errol Millsteed defeated Asquith's M Conroy, Lee Trethowan and Steve Vanderveer 24-7.

Section 4 was won by Mona Vale's Adam Glew, Wayne Fletcher and Kevin Watson (Skip) who defeated Belrose's Joe Saragozza, M Smith and Graeme Hartmann 29-21.

The Semi-finals and finals of both the State and Reserve Triples Championships will be played next Saturday, 23rd August at Harbord Bowling Club.
