Cy Threfall in 2009 Premier League winners

Cy Threfall plays Premier League

Cy Threfall (Belrose) capped off a brilliant year of bowling when he was a member of the Engadine Cougars side that won the 2009 Premier League Grand Final last December. Prior to that event he was part of the Belrose side who won the Zone 9 Grade 1 Pennant flag, he won his club's Major Singles Championship, won the Zone's Champion of Club Champions Singles and he skipped the team who won the Zone's State Fours Championship. All in all a notable achievement!

Cy's participation in the Engadine Cougars side was possible because of the new rules which provide for up to 6 'marquee' players in the side - 3 from NSW & 3 from interstate/overseas. Cy was a member of Engadine Club before he joined Harbord in 2008 and Belrose in 2009  so it was no surprise that he played with his old club in this major event for Bowls NSW. Since the Zone no longer has a club entering the Premier League competition, local interest in the event has, not surprisingly, waned.

Cy was not the only Zone bowler playing Premier League last year as Michael Harvey played for the Raymond Terrace Jets. Michael will be playing for Harbord in 2010
