The Asquith team of Lee Trethowan, George Appleby, Steve Vanderveer (Subbing for John Campton) & Shaun Thompson today won the State Fours Championship, defeating Belrose's Mike Smith, Phil Westcott, Crawford Linton and Steve Clark by 4 shots, 24 to 20 in an extremely good match.

The Asquith side got off to a bad start being down 8 nil after 3 ends and they trailed Belrose until the 11 end when they won 6 ends in a row. They took the lead and the game turned around in the 14th end when they won a 5 which they followed up with a 3 on the next end when skip Shaun Thompson nearly cleared the rink with a magnificent drive. Asquith went into the 20th end with a comfortable margin of 8 shots, only to lose a 3 and a 1 to win by 4 shots.

Earlier in the day, Bill Webb's Asquith side went down to Belrose 23-14 and Dee Why was defeated by the eventual winners 19-16
