Lindfield Club introduces Powerbowls to Sydney

Tony Tinworth, Tuesday, 2 March 2010

Lindfield Bowling Club has shown it's enterprise by introducing 'Powerbowls' to Sydney, and possibly to Australia.

Viewers of English Premier League bowls on Foxtel will be familiar with the Powerbowl concept, introduced to provide some new excitement to the game.

The first carnival will be their 'Powerbowls Pairs' to be held on Monday 26th April. Event organiser Phillip Joel explains the format as a 3 bowl pairs event, with 5 games of 2 sets, each of 5 ends - ie 50 ends in all and based on points for each set won. The unique feature is that during each set, each skip may nominate their use of the 'Powerbowl' and if that team wins that end it doubles their score on that end. The 4 teams with the highest score will play off in a semi-final and final for prizemoney of $1,450.

Sounds a great innovation! Entry forms can be downloaded from the website - see under 'club carnivals & special events' but be quick - entries limited to 42 teams.
