Win one, lose one in Nelson Bay

Tony Tinworth, Saturday, 24 July 2010

Today saw two rounds of the annual Zones 2, 4, 9, & 16 Interzone Round Robin, played this year at Nelson Bay Bowling Club.

Our 24 Zone reps had two extremely close games, with one win and one loss - the win by 2 shots over Zone 16 and the loss by one shot to Zone 2, 109 to 108. How close can you get!

There was some satisfaction in the win against Zone 16 - with one shot on each of the last 2 ends - because it was the same Zone 16 who eliminated our side from this weeks Seniors match in Wagga - see separate story. They were, however, largely different bowlers, this being an open competition, the other a seniors comp. We did have 3 'seniors' in today's side- Crawford Linton, Tony Taylor & Phil Westcott, as did Zone 16.

President Bob Moran reports that the weather much kinder in the north with none of the fog, cold and dew encountered in Wagga.

Tomorrow we play Zone 4 in the final match. The results thus far are much better than for the past 2 years. Last year we did not have any side wins, going down to Zone 16 by 8 shots and Zone 2 by 76 shots! Very well done gents.

Details of players representing the Zone in this comp. can be found by clicking here.
