STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS - Triples - Summary

Mark Alexander, Friday, 20 September 2019

This morning saw the completion of the sectional rounds of the Triples at the NSW State Championships and unfortunately none of the Zone 9 teams were successful in reaching the semi-finals.

The Belrose Bulls - Steve Kerr, Adam Moody & Doc Smith - began their campaign in the Open Triples with a massive 35/12 win over Glenbrook (Z5) before consecutive losses to Terrigal (Z15) 23-30 and Mudgee (Z4) 21-30 saw the Bulls bow out with one win and two losses, +7 shots.  The relatively narrow loss to the eventual section winners in Terrigal was commendable as the Central Coast champions won their other matches by 43/8 and 39/13!!

In the Senior Triples, St Ives - Chris Bergman, Fred Alexander & Wilson Cheng - narrowly lost their opening match 23/26 to Westport (Z14) before enjoying a thumping 34/10 victory over Gulgong (Z4) on Friday afternoon.  In today's Round 3 match, St Ives were up against Rex Johnston and his Tuncurry Beach (Z11) side and performed creditably in going down 18/25.

In the Reserve Triples, the Lindfield Rollers - Willie Mok, Ian Kimmorley & Phil Lewis - failed to register a win, going down 24/30 in a high-scoring opening match against Lorn Park (Zone 6), being soundly beaten 12/38 by CabraVale Diggers (Z12) and then 17/24 by Moorefield (Z13) in today's Round 3 match.  The Lindfield boys can still hold their heads high and can now look forward to the Reserve Fours late next week.
